MEET OUR INSTRUCTORS

CONNOR MCDOUGALL

Connor is the current owner and head instructor at Muskoka’s Refresher Hockey Clinic. He is currently an educator in the Parry Sound area and most recently competed in season 8 of The Amazing Race Canada. He attended Nipissing University’s Bachelor of Education program and is a graduate from Dalhousie Universities (BSc) Recreation & (BMgmt) Management double major program. As known to many, Little Doogs has been an instructor at the camp for 15 years and most recently took over the camp from his dad, Dave, who started Refresher 20 years ago. Little Doogs played minor hockey in his hometown for the Parry Sound Shamrocks before playing in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League for the Liverpool Privateers while he attended school. Oh, shoot the duck? That’s Little Doogs’ middle name.

BRENDAN MCDOUGALL

Brendan, known as Moose to many is a former instructor at Refresher who still makes an appearance when possible. Brendan also played minor hockey in the Parry Sound area and formerly played Jr. A for the Seguin Huskies. Brendan ran The Amazing Race Canada (S8) alongside Little Doogs. He is best known at the camp for holding the fastest record throughout the obstacle course to this date. Looking to get away from defenders in the corners, Moose’s expertise comes in during our agility and edge work drills. When he is not selling Stanley Boats you will be sure to find him in the rink or out on the boat.

AIDAN DUDAS

Duder has instructed at Refresher since the age of 14 and brings along a strong resume with him. Duder, also a local Parry Sound guy, played minor hockey for the Shamrocks before moving to play AAA for the North Central Predators. From there he was drafted to the Owen Sound Attack of the OHL where he has spent the last few seasons.  In 2018 he was drafted to the LA Kings and he now spends his time in California paying with the Ontario Reign of the AHL. Along with these accolades Duder also has two World Golds at both the U20 IIHF Tournament & U18 Hlinka Gretzky Cup. If speed and edgework are areas you want to improve Duder is your guy.

DYLAN BROWN

Brownie is one of the longest attendees of Refresher as he started in the camp at the age of 8 and is now a full time instructor. Brownie makes the trip up from Boston, Massachusetts each summer to his cottage to spend some time on the lake while staying on his blades. He is a graduate of Belmont Hill Academy and now a Sophomore at Colorado College majoring in economics where he plays Division III lacrosse . Going through the program and now an instructor Brownie carries the variety of skills he’s learned at Refresher and it is evident in his inside-outside edgework. Much Like Moose if you don’t find Brownie in the rink you’re sure to find him behind the boat on the wakesurf.

CONNOR SCOTT

Connor or Scotty has also been an instructor at Refresher for some time and very well versed with the program. Much like Moose and Little Doogs, he is local to the area playing minor hockey for the Shamrocks as well as the Seguin Huskies. After playing for the Huskies he spent a year in the prairies playing for the Humboldt Broncos of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. Scotty graduated from Lindenwood University in St. Louis, Missouri where he majored in finance while on a hockey scholarship. If you’re looking to improve your stickhandling or shot this is the guy to come to.
